Osco Drug (Albertsons)
Bloomington, IN |
| CHALLENGE: |
A design/build project to completely gut and remodel the inside of a store without disturbing normal retail operations.
Time frame necessitated: 9 weeks. |
SOLUTION:
|
| |
| As General Contractor, Oakwood took on the task of re-arranging all of the departments within the store while allowing business to proceed as usual. This required a comprehensive understanding of the store’s operations and scheduling. Oakwood began by developing a detailed job schedule and hiring an architect to prepare the necessary plans. Then, after acquiring all necessary permits, the team was ready to begin work. Oakwood had to abate the entire sales floor, which included both VCT flooring and mastic. The scope of work also included replacing all of the shelving units, changing the direction of the shelving and the buildout of an entirely new pharmacy. By being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Oakwood was able to avoid peak hours and strategically work around store operations in order to minimize effects on business at Osco Drug. |

RESULT:

Oakwood successfully completed the job on time without disturbing store sales or interfering with normal operations.
